DeepJyoti Samaj Sudhar Sanstha (DOSI) was founded in 1995 (2052 BS) by local teachers, farmers and health workers who wanted the district to shape its own development rather than wait for it. It is registered as a non-governmental, non-profit and autonomous social organization in Dolakha, Bagmati Province.

Three decades on, we work from the terraced farms of Jiri to the mountainside schools of Bigu — in education, health, agriculture, livelihoods, disaster risk reduction and social justice. Every programme is designed with the local group that will run it, reviewed openly with the community, and handed over to them.

Who we are

DeepJyoti Samaj Sudhar Sanstha (DOSI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, autonomous organization registered under the Social Organization Registration Act, 2034 BS. Founded in 2052 BS (1995), we have spent three decades working alongside the people of Dolakha District.

Our field teams are active across Dolakha’s wards, pairing local wisdom with programs in education, health, agriculture and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, and social justice — always led by the communities we serve.

Leadership

Our governing body and field staff are drawn largely from Dolakha itself — people who understand the district’s geography, culture and needs first-hand, and who are accountable to the villages where they work.
